About Kiwanis
Kiwanis was founded in 1915 and has grown to an international organization with over 298,000 adult members, in over 8,360 clubs in 79 countries. The “Kiwanis Family” includes over 7000 sponsored youth clubs, elementary through college age, with over 320,000 participants.
Kiwanis is a worldwide service organization for men and women desiring personal involvement in the leadership, service and improvement of their communities. As a group, we can achieve what individuals cannot do alone. The motto and the corner stone of Kiwanis is “Serving the Children of the World.”
About The Silicon Valley Kiwanis Club
The Kiwanis Club of Silicon Valley was formed in Sunnyvale in 1985 . Our club members pride themselves in being hands-on supporters in the community.
A major emphasis of our club is Serving the Children of Sunnyvale through our sponsorship of elementary school Fires Safety Poster contests, middle school Builders Club, and two High School Key Clubs. The clubs, with over 250 members, are devoted to community service and leadership training. Our Kiwanis club provides financial and adult support for these young leaders.
We also support the Sunnyvale Department of Public Safety in their projects to educate citizens, young and old; we serve at “Our Daily Bread,” a project which provides lunches to needy citizens; we help the Salvation Army with bell ringing and food baskets, and provide support to the Santa Clara County Registrar of Voters by distributing and collecting election materials and ballots for Sunnyvale precincts.
Visitors are Welcome
We meet each Wednesday morning from 7:30-8:30am for breakfast at the LookOut Inn, 605 Macara, Sunnyvale, CA
Our meetings are more like family gatherings and all are welcome to visit. We celebrate the personal accomplishments of our club members, chairpersons provide short updates about club projects, opportunities to volunteer are presented and, most importantly we laugh, clap, cajole and have a great time. A program is presented by a visiting speaker who may talk about a multitude of subjects, such as community services, travel pictures, leisure activities, health, and other subjects of interest to members.
Please join us at our next meeting!
